There's talk of taking babies DNA at birth and storing it, and any adult they can get hold of.

This means if a crime is committed where a DNA sample is needed, they will have it to hand.

Some people are worried about what they government could do with this info.

Personally, I think it's good idea. I've got nothing to hide so I'd gladly give a sample. And I'd let them take my childs sample too.

I think so too. If you've nothing to hide, why would you refuse this?

This would need a lot of investigation before I would agree.

Looking at the bigger picture.......there is a lot to be said for ones privacy and having your DNA taken at birth is an invasion of privacy for no reason. We might as well say.....lets implant a tag in each newborn child just in case they turn into criminals later on.

There are lots of PRO's and CON's to this so needs a lot more thought (in my opinion).

But surely it would help the crime rate?

I don't see it as an invasion of privacy for no reason. I see it as a way to stop crime. A rapist will be found and caught straight away. DNA from a murder will be identified straight away.

No more searching for clues and taking too much time to find the criminal. Within hours of the crime, the culprits face can be broadcast to the world. No more innocent people going to jail by mistake. No more rapist and murderers going free.

I see it the same way Kate does. If you know you're not going to commit a crime, then why not eliminate yourself from every crime commited?

If a silly girl accuses your son of rape, instead of a trial, she'll be deemed innocent asap.
